Stonegarden Eden Valley Grenache
Wine
Massena Stonegarden Eden Valley Grenache is sourced from the distinguished Stonegarden Vineyard, established in 1858 outside Springton in the Eden Valley.
This historic vineyard is sited in thin loam soils over red clay strewn with rose quartz and black mica schist. Combined with cool breezes and low night temperatures in summer, its fruit is slow ripening and full flavoured.
The grapes are picked in two parcels. The first is destemmed into a ceramic egg and kept on skins for several months to extract fine tannins. The second ferments as whole bunches with foot stomping, lending a broader, grainier tannin profile.
Crimson red, Massena Stonegarden Eden Valley Grenache has hallmark fine acidity with old vine complexity and silky tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
